Qu&rsquo;est-ce que le gradient ? C&rsquo;est la direction et la pente de la plus forte augmentation d&rsquo;une fonction.<\/p>\n<h3>Comment fonctionne le gradient ?<\/h3>\n<p>Imaginez une montagne. Vous souhaitez atteindre son sommet le plus rapidement possible. Le gradient vous indique la direction la plus pentue \u00e0 chaque point o\u00f9 vous vous trouvez. En apprentissage automatique, la \u00ab montagne \u00bb repr\u00e9sente la fonction de co\u00fbt (l&rsquo;erreur du mod\u00e8le) et le sommet repr\u00e9sente le minimum de cette fonction (l&rsquo;erreur minimale).  L&rsquo;algorithme utilise le gradient pour ajuster les param\u00e8tres du mod\u00e8le, un peu comme un alpiniste adapte son chemin en suivant la pente la plus raide pour atteindre le sommet.  Plus le gradient est fort, plus la pente est raide et plus l&rsquo;ajustement des param\u00e8tres sera important.<\/p>\n<h3>Pourquoi le gradient est-il important ?<\/h3>\n<p>Le gradient est au c\u0153ur des algorithmes d&rsquo;optimisation, notamment la descente de gradient, utilis\u00e9e pour entra\u00eener la plupart des mod\u00e8les d&rsquo;apprentissage automatique.  Il permet d&rsquo;ajuster it\u00e9rativement les param\u00e8tres du mod\u00e8le afin de minimiser son erreur. Sans le gradient, l&rsquo;apprentissage serait beaucoup plus lent et moins efficace.
